Ring-Ring Road—the cycling road running throughout Ibaraki Prefecture—Sakuragawa’s cycling path

In the Prefecture of Ibaraki, there is a cycling road called Ring-Ring Road, a 40km cycling path ideal for touring the area on a bicycle. It runs from Tsuchiura Station to Iwase Station on the Mito Line. The City of Sakuragawa is located at approximately the half-way point. It’s a great place to take a break. Walk through the retro-style Town of Makabe, eat a bowl of soba noodles at a restaurant in an old-fashioned house. Take a bento box or a bunch of onigiri (rice balls) to see the peacocks roaming the grounds of Amabiki Kannon (temple). A quick break on the benches that overlook the City of Sakuragawa will surely rejuvenate you for the rest of your ride!
