Dr.GOTA in Nature
三浦豪太・GOTA MIURA
My father is Yuichiro Miura, adventure skier who is known as “The man who skied the Everest”. Because of my father, I was taken to few of the seven summits such as Kilimanjaro and Elbrus in my childhood. Then I became a mogul skier and competed in Lillehammer and Nagano Olympic Games. After my retirement from competition, my father wanted to climb Everest so I helped him to do so. Along the way, I took up doctoral course from the University and became doctor in the field of Anti-aging.
Hello My name is Gota Miura
Today, I would like to tell you about the opening of my web page!
By the way, I moved to Hokkaido last year.
Hokkaido is northern part of Japan where there are abundance of nature. Here we ran a ski school for more than 30 years, yet there are so many mountains ,sea and rivers that I have not seen and I am looking forward to discovering it myself.
On this web site I am excited to show you not only Hokkaido but vast nature of Japan. They are very unique, cultural and heart pounding! I am looking forward to seeing you all.
Freestyle Spirit
Before Freestyle skiing was called by its name, Stein Eriksen, gold medalist of alpine skiing, performed front flip at 1950s.
Then in USA, ski gained popularity. Many people came up on the ski hill and naturally bumps formed. Hot dog skiers are the ones who skied these bumps with style, and it eventually became “Hot Dog contest” to Mogul, Aerial and Ballet skiing. In 1980, First world cup series began. 12years latter, Mogul and Aerial became part of Albertville Olympic game and gradually population of the competitor rose.
In the midst of the competition, there are few people who felt the essence of freedom slipped away. Those people started building bigger jumps and started jumping with style, and ride a half pipe and rocked out the lip.
Slopestyle and Ski Half pipe became part of Winter X game in 2000. Also regardless of your back ground of skiing whether you are mogul or alpine racer, they all stood on the same start line and raced through obstacle. It was called ski cross.
Today, Mogul, Aerial, Slopestyle, Half pipe big air and ski cross are the freestyle skiing. They are born out of seeking freedom, yet when it is molded into the competition, new freestyle skiing is born.
Each birth of the freestyle skiing event, they are born with innate dilemma, whether to pursue competition or seek for freedom. Because of this dilemma every Freestyle skiing event possesses immaturity within their rule, but this immaturity in turn means more possibility for the progression.
I think Freestyle spirit is the courage to pursue a freedom within the boundary of the competition. And those who have a freestyle spirit definitely enjoy every step of the way. I am looking forward for their performance.
