Directed by master filmmaker Wim Wenders (Paris, Texas, Wings of Desire), the film illustrates the daily life of a toilet scrubber played by Yakusho Koji, who Wenders admires and respects. Winner of the Best Actor Award at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Godzilla appears in post-war Japan and plunges the country into a negative state. Yamazaki Takashi directs this film commemorating the 70th anniversary of Godzilla.

Director Akira Kurosawa and director Yasujiro Ozu, a master who made Japan films known around the world. For the commemoration of Ozu’s 120th birthday, many of director Yasujiro Ozu’s films were screened at the Tokyo International Film Festival.

This Akira Kurosawa award was established to honor filmmakers who have contributed to the world’s film industry and to whom we want to entrust the future of the film industry, in order to pass on their achievements to future generations. Tokyo Internatinal Film Festival has made this award.
